Local Government Law
Our lawyers regularly represent local governments as they perform their governmental function while balancing competing demands created by an increasingly complex regulatory environment, budgetary constraints, and political and public pressures. In addition to serving as general counsel to several local and regional governmental bodies, our lawyers are often called upon to assist local city and county attorneys with special projects including, among other things, utility operations, tax credit participation, public financing, procurement, economic development, public housing, employment, Freedom Of Information Act requests, governance issues, risk management, responses to media inquiries, leasing, real estate acquisition and development, industrial and economic development, and zoning.
For decades, our firm has provided exemplary representation to cities, towns, counties, regional industrial facility authorities, industrial development authorities, utility service authorities, redevelopment and housing authorities, school boards, and community service boards. In addition, when appropriate, our lawyers have counseled and assisted businesses, individuals and families when they require governmental services, approvals, and permits.
